Q & A

What is included in the $735 price?

The $735 price includes the “Standard Installation” and the “Commissioning” of the equipment.

What is a standard installation?

A standard installation assumes that a contractor does not have to perform any unexpected or unusual actions
to install a variable flow pool pump at your residence. Each residential pool configuration is different.
If the contractor has to perform extra work at your residence, he must provide a written estimate prior
to the installation. All contractors are licensed, insured and approved by the program.

What if my installation is not standard and I feel the added cost proposed by the contractor
is unjustified?

You may request an independent quote from a second contractor. At that time, you may accept the quote from
the first contractor, accept the quote from the second contractor or elect not to participate in the offering.

What product will be installed?

The IntelliFlo Variable Flow Pool Pump manufactured by Pentair is the product being supplied for this program.

What is the warranty?

The parts and labor have a 1 year warranty.

I can buy a new regular single speed pool pump for much less than this new variable flow model.
Why should I do this?

There are many good reasons, but two are immediate: 1.) The variable flow model can save you up to 90% on
your pool pump electrical costs. Your pool pump electrical costs amount to 20% to 30% of your total electrical costs
each year. You can save a GREAT deal of money! To find out approximately how much, go to the front page
of the Set to Save website and click on the Energy Savings Calculator. 2.) Effective January 1,2008,
the California Energy Code does not permit the use of of single speed pumps for pool water filtration.

Why should I buy this through the Palm Desert Energy Partnership?

We are making this offer available to save you money and to offer you the convenience of the “One Stop Shop”.
A typical installation of the same equipment over the past year and a half has cost between $1,600 and $2,200.
By setting up this offer under one general contractor, we can take advantage of economies of scale and offer
you the much lower price of $735.

What is the difference between the variable flow and the variable speed pool pump?

The variable flow pool pump can be programmed by gallons per minute (GPM). A variable speed model is
programmed by revolutions per minute (RPM). The difference is subtle, but important. When programmed in
terms of gallons per minute, the pool pump can shut itself off once the required volume of water has been filtered
for the day. With a variable speed, the shut off time is estimated.

Is there anything that I need to do before the installation takes place?

The manufacturer of the pool pump highly recommends cleaning the filter before installation. You should
perform this task or have it performed, however you normally do it, before the contractor arrives to install
the new pump. You may also ask the contractor to perform this service, but this will constitute an extra cost.

I have my own contractor that has taken care of my pool for years.
Can I have him install the variable flow model through the Partnership’s special offer?

Yes, provided he/she is a licensed contractor and has been qualified and accepted for participation in the program
as a contractor.

Okay, let’s say I am sold on the program and I want to have the variable flow installed.
How do I sign up?

Scroll to the bottom of this page, provide your contact information on the request form and simply click the
“Submit” button, or you can call SCE at (800) 736-4777. A “Set to Save” representative will then contact you
for an in-home visit to answer your questions and to execute a Customer Work Authorization form.

How long will it be before someone contacts me for an appointment?

Someone will contact you within 5 business days. You may be contacted sooner; however the Partnership
is expecting a very high demand for this limited time offer.

Do I have to apply for the rebate and wait for a check?

No! Rebate forms are not required. This is a “One Stop Shop”! The SCE utility incentive and the economies
of scale are combined to provide you with one low $735 price.

How does the payment work?

An initial deposit of $150 is required at the time you sign the Customer Work Authorization form. The
remaining balance of $585 is due upon the completion of the installation. The preferred method of
payment is Visa or MasterCard.

I saw on the “Go With the Flow” flyer that I can also get a new pool pump heater with a
great rebate. How do I find out more about that?

You may ask the “Set to Save” representative during your in-home visit or contact Becky Estrella at the
Office of Energy Management in Palm Desert at (760) 837-0287.

To estimate your actual savings, go to the Energy Savings Calculator
on the front page of the Set to Save website, www.settosave.com.

Simply fill in the required information below and click “Sign Up”. A service representative will contact you to
schedule an appointment to visit your home. The survey will take about 20 to 30 minutes of your time and will be
very informative.
